Kinesiotaping

Kinesio taping (often referred to as taping) – is a taping method that involves applying a special tape (with elastic properties) to the surface of the body. The creator and pioneer of this method was Japanese chiropractor Kenzo Kase. He wanted to create a method of therapy that would have a continuing effect on the patient, even after leaving the office. He successfully began applying elastic plasters made from cotton, to tight muscles, to support and prolong the effectiveness of the implemented therapy.

Kinesio taping – who is this method of physiotherapy intended for? What purpose do we use it for?

Kinesio taping has become an integral part of sports physiotherapy and is gradually becoming a more widely used method during the daily work of physiotherapists with all types of patients.

General indications for kinesio taping include a range of musculoskeletal pain complaints, such as back pain, knee pain, shoulder pain, tendinitis (e.g. in the wrist area), soreness of the insertion area (e.g. tennis elbow), and heel spurs.

We use kinesio taping primarily to relieve localized pain in the musculoskeletal organs, as well as to prevent injury.  However, individual applications will also prove helpful in problems related to menstrual pain or save from muscle spasms.

Kinesiotaping – what effect does it have on the body

Benefits of the kinesio taping method:

  • improved circulation

  • reduction of pain

  • muscle relaxation

  • improvement of joint function

  • segmented impact (improvement of external organs and impact on improving the function of internal organs)

Kinesio taping – ways of applying the tape

We distinguish the following ways of tape application:

  • muscular

  • lymphatic

  • ligamentous

  • fascial

  • corrective

  • functional

At our Kinespa Clinic, each application of tapes is properly tailored to the patient’s unique needs.

Kinesio taping is an excellent method to complement the rehabilitation process. Without a doubt, its greatest advantage is the duration of impact on the patient. The therapist can easily and effectively sustain the effect of the implemented therapy since the kinesio taping method has an effect on the patient for the entire period of the presence of the tape on the skin. The tapes do not interfere with movement, bathing, or sports. In addition, the presence of the tape on the skin is not felt, thanks to the similar thickness of the tape to human skin.
